Service Description

KINETIC THERAPY Kinetic therapy is a form of Manual Therapy developed by Massage therapist Steven Heaton and can be used to treat a variety of musculoskeletal injuries as well as help those struggling with chronic pain.    It is based on the ancient art of GUA SHA which involved using a tool made from animal bone or horn to scrape and massage lubricated skin, although more well-off individuals were said to favor materials such as Jade. The practice of Gua Sha can be traced back to the Paleolithic age where those who fell sick would be massaged with stones and it was also used heavily during the Ming Dynasty over 700 years ago. The aim of the treatment was to unblock and restore the flow of Qi within the body.    This may sound a little bit like voodoo, however there is a scientific and physiological basis to back up this belief. The body is a wonderfully complex and extraordinary thing that is connected in multiple ways, from nerves, to muscles, to fascia and skin. The proper function of our body relies on these connections and when something interrupts them problems arise.    Benefits of Kinetic Therapy  Improves the movement of lymphatic fluids and breaks down tension in muscles and knots in the face, neck, and shoulders.  Increases blood circulation while lifting and firming the skin.  Reduces hyperpigmentation on the treated surface area of the skin.  Because it may decrease inflammation on the skin, it is frequently used to treat sicknesses that cause chronic pains like arthritis and fibromyalgia, as well as those that trigger muscle and joint pains.  Relieves the side effects of conditions such as Migraine headaches, Neck pain, Perimenopausal syndrome, Hepatitis B, Breast engorgement, Tourette syndrome, etc.  It can break down stubborn adhesions/scar tissue resulting from postural dysfunctions and injuries.  I have found kinetic therapy to be the most effective modality I have used, as both a patient and a therapist. Where other treatments fail, kinetic therapy does not and I use it to help people in pain daily.
